Clubs

Science Olympiad:

  • Working on their notes.
  • Coming up with this year’s t-shirt design.
  • First invitational competition is Saturday February 6.
  • First competition is on February 27 at Detroit Country Day!
  • Meets on select Thursdays. See Mrs. Rossell or Mrs. Moore for full schedule!
    • Next few meetings: January 7, January 21, February 4, February 18, and February 25.
  • The $20 fee for the team t-shirt is due by Thursday, January 21st.

Yearbook Club:

  • With Mrs. Steffes and Mrs. Moore in Mrs. Steffes’ room, or Lab A.
  • There are many school events coming up! If you’re a photographer in the yearbook club, see Mrs. Moore or Mrs. Steffes to get a camera. We need more pictures for the yearbook! Even if you’re not in Yearbook Club, send any pictures you have of school events to Mrs. Steffes or Mrs. Moore.

Maker Space:

  • With Mrs. Lawshea in the Media Center
  • Meets on 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20. (Fridays)
  • During Maker Space, students work on projects, and create things. They make lots of projects, graphic design, and more.

  • With Ms. Mainero in room 131.
  • 2:30-3:30 PM
  • Meets on 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23. No meeting on 2/16. (Wednesdays)
  • By joining, you can develop and enhance your acting skills and gain confidence in public speaking.

Rockstar 101:

  • With Mr. Fischer in the Media Center.
  • 2:30-3:30 PM
  • Meets on 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25. No meeting on 2/25. (Wednesdays)
  • Learn the basics of guitar. Successful participants will learn how to play the guitar in 8 weeks.
  • Topics covered:
    • Basic strumming patterns.
    • Basic chords.
    • Simple chord progressions.
    • Learning fun and simple songs.
  • Bring your own guitar and extra guitar picks. Loaner guitars are available on a first come/first served basis only.

Math Counts Competition Series:

  • With Ms. Szczepanski in room 106.
  • 2:30-3:30 PM
  • Meets on 1/26, 1/28, 2/2, 2/4, 2/9, 2/11, 2/18, 2/20. No meeting on 2/16. (Mondays and Wednesdays)
  • Students will work on competition style math problems in groups, partners, and as individuals for the opportunity to represent Reuther at the 2015 local Math Counts Competition on February 21st, and the Detroit Country Day Math Invitational on February 7th.
  • Those who participate are not obligated to compete in any of the competitions.

Cheerleading:

  • With Ms. Scott in the cafeteria.
  • 2:30-3:30 PM
  • Meets on 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18. No meeting on 2/25. (Wednesdays)
  • Try out cheering, jumping, stunting, and tumbling.
  • Learn some of the fundamentals of cheerleading along with some of the chants that are performed during football games and basketball games.
  • Meet other girls who have cheered before and will teach you all the fun material they have learned.
  • Special appearances from Rochester High School cheerleaders during certain days.
